Time capsule

Love this next story - check out these two licenses of Chris'. One is from 2006 and one is from last month. Same zip up fleece, same plaid button up, same goatee, same glasses.
Unfortunately it wasn't a coincidence, he really has been wearing that same outfit everyday in-between.

What's the best way to end a long day at work?
Coffee ice cream over a slice of chocolate banana bread. So.Freaking.Good.

The beer fairy strikes again

The ever elusive beer fairy stopped by my work today to bestow upon her favorite little government worker a scent-tastic surprise;
A little beer for the boy, and....
A crap load of wonderfully scented candles for me. Nag Champa, clove, frankincense & myrrh, cinnamon bun and pumpkin spice. They're hanging out on the dining room table infusing the whole house with scented magic. I'm in nasal love. Sniff, sniff...

Bananarama

No world traveling or races for us this weekend. Just some down time at home playing with motorcycles and reading. The only outing I had yesterday was to the mall in the morning to return the tank top I'd bought Friday that was too long in the neckline. But instead they made up some dumb rule that I couldn't trade the shirt for another equally priced item since I'd used a coupon on the purchase. I clarified that had I bought the placement item (a purse) on Friday the coupon would have applied thereby making it the same sale price as the tank top, right? Right, but they wouldn't apply the coupon to the trade item, only to the original. So I just kept the damn shirt, but not before making a snide comment about just having to give it away because as I'd told them, it didn't fit. Sometimes the lack of common sense befuddles me.

After a long morning at church today (I filled in for the music director during second service and had to count money after church) I came home and prepared to make a chocolate chocolate chip banana bread loaf from an online recipe. I've been saving, or rather I've been too lazy to throw away, three very ripe bananas that were screaming to be put in some sort of baked goods. So out came the Kitchen Aid and a counter top full of ingredients.
Exactly 78 minutes later, out came a loaf of chocolate love;
Like the cupcakes I made last weekend, I only intend to hold on to a couple of pieces and then shuffle the rest into the hungry mouths of my co-workers. I did eat the end piece and was very happy with the final product. Because my piece had so much 'crust' it wasn't a moist as I image an inside cut would be, but I'm sure it won't go to waste. I want Chris to finish playing with his motorcycle on the living room floor so he can try his piece and sing it's praises!

Mullet management

It's that time again - time to trim back my luscious locks. When my hair starts growing over my ears and I can pull it away from the back of my neck it's time to make an appointment.
I had to come home and wash it right away though because I was littering hair debris all over the place.

With my free afternoon I went over to New York and Company to use my 50% off a $100 coupon I got in the mail.
I stuck with tops because I still don't comfortably fit in my old shorts since the surgery so I'd rather not waste my money on any more until the swelling and second surgery are done. Not in the photo are a pair of silver sandals I grabbed at the last second. They're comfortably resting on my feet right now. I didn't try on anything there, but once home I decided to take the tank top on the far left back. It's too long in the shoulder straps so the neck line is too low. Unless of course my mission is to distract people with my ta-tas. Then it's just right.

Chris got into town early from a site visit so he texted me to meet him over at Barnes & Noble for a little coffee and magazines. It's not blazing hot today, but warm enough that being inside drinking iced coffee was a welcome treat. I'm hoping it cools off enough this evening to squeeze in a walk around the block before going to the gym. It's already down to 87 degrees at 7:00 pm so it's looking good.

Songbirds

Our music director at church is on vacation for two weeks so I've been asked to help lead songs for the traditional style second service this coming Sunday. I met with three of the musicians at church tonight to practice some hymns and praise songs.
I'm not a big fan of, or connoisseur of hymns so I had to bring the music home to practice between now and then. It's going to be a long, long weekend for Chris.

Chef Chris

My tummy was hurting today (I suspect the artichoke hearts from dinner last night) so Chris took over dinner responsibilities tonight while I laid down.
He put together a tasty mix of crookneck, zucchini, basil and tomatoes (all from our garden) mixed with a can of cannellini beans served over rice.
Maybe I can trust him in the kitchen more often. Maybe.

Unbelievably, Chris finally made it through the liters and liters of beer we had around the house and I actually had to make a run to Ray's Liquor in P-town for a combo six-pack.
The first two have been barely drinkable, which is unfortunate. I hope my mom is ready to take over the reins when I get fired as the official beer shopper. You should never trust a connoisseur of Boone's Farm to pick out beer. My palate is clearly too sophisticated for such things!

Cupcakes and crafts

What does one do with an abundance of flour, sugar, oil and eggs? Make cupcakes of course! While at Trader's this morning I picked up a package of mini peanut butter cups to throw in the batter, from a recipe I found online.
So easy and so good. I broke the sad news to Chris that he does not get the whole dozen. I'll save him a couple, but the majority are going to work tomorrow. I love bringing in goodies to work. It gives me the chance to bake, yet I don't feel compelled to eat the whole thing. I'm happy and my pants are happy.

I spent some time this afternoon finishing up a scrapbook page I'd started yesterday from our weekend in Chester for the little brewfest in their park.
Next up, Wilson's graduation. Then I'm all caught up and I can find a new project to spend all my time and money on.
